Children's Ministry
We have a growing ministry to children at First Presbyterian. Our Nursery Director, oversees our program for children infant to age 5. Our Christian Education Director coordinates the program for children K-5th grades. Our children come into the sanctuary for the Children's Sermon, then have an activity and lesson to coordinate with the themes that they hear in church. We have Sunday School for Nursery-5th grade each Sunday at 9:30, and Children's Church for K-3rd grade during the second half of worship. We believe it's very important for children to be an integral part of the church family. Children are welcome in our worship services. We don't mind hearing little noises and voices in congregation, in fact we consider it a blessing! Our Children's Sermon is a special time where the children learn, and share what they know about their own faith.
Throughout the year we have special events for children. We host an Easter Egg Hunt, a Fall Festival, a Family Advent Party, games for 'fireworks on the lawn' night, and a fun Tailgate event.
But the most exciting event for children is our Vacation Bible School. This year it was "Paul in Rome" June 7-10. This is for ages 3-5th grade, and it is always a blast! We host about 50 kids from our church and the Mills neighborhood for four evenings of fun and fellowship, and the entire church is transformed into another world, where kids learn about the Bible in a fun and adventurous way. It is an experience that the children (and adults!) never forget! Don't miss it.
